Groundbreaking set next week for new luxury apartments in far east El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A groundbreaking for new luxury apartments in far east El Paso is scheduled for next Wednesday. August 23, 2021

Furman Malooly Development, a newly formed partnership between native El Paso residents, Chris Malooly Jr. and Jordan Furman, is scheduled to break ground September 1, on the new development called Desert Commons.

Desert Commons is part of a mixed-use development that offers residents walkability to retail and restaurants within the property.

Desert Commons is located at 2801 N. Zaragoza Rd.

Desert Commons will include 225 luxury apartment homes available for rent with an array of amenities throughout the property such as an expansive resort-style pool with cabanas, a pet park, a clubhouse with a top-of-the-line fitness center and accompanying kid’s room, a coworking lounge with a bar, a game lounge with a golf simulator, and package lockers to accommodate the increased usage of online shopping.

The apartment homes will feature quartz countertops, stainless appliances, simulated wood flooring, walk-in closets, and in-unit washer/dryers. Most first floor units will include private, fenced yards. Desert Commons will utilize a smart access control system throughout the entire property which will allow residents to enter their homes without a traditional key allowing for easy and 24-hour secure access.

Desert Commons will offer one, two, and three-bedroom units and will likely range in rent from $800 to $1,600 per month. Private garages and storage units will be available to residents as well as EV (Electric Vehicle) charging stations. Pre-leasing will begin Spring of 2022, and prospective residents will be given the opportunity to take tours before construction is complete using augmented reality. First move-ins will be available beginning Summer 2022.

The complex provides easy access to Texas Loop 375, Interstate 10, and many of the major employers including Amazon, Fort Bliss and William Beaumont Hospital. Additionally, ten top-scoring public schools are located within two miles of Desert Commons.
